1992 Donruss The Rookies Pack

After six years of issuing "The Rookies" as a 56-card boxed set, 1992 Donruss The Rookies was expanded to 132-cards and distributed exclusively in packs. The card design is the same as the 1992 Donruss regular issue except that the two-tone blue color bars have been replaced by green. The set is arranged in alphabetical order and numbered on the back.

Prominent rookie cards in this set include Jeff Kent, Manny Ramirez, Matt Stairs, Tim Wakefield and Eric Young. In addition, an early card of Pedro Martinez is featured. The rookie selection was hindered by Donruss' decision to pull 20 players from the base set and include them in the "Phenoms" insert set -- one of the 20 was Mike Piazza. Piazza's Phenoms insert is one of only three cards issued of him in 1992, and the only one NOT a "true" rookie.
