1993 Select is a 405-card, single-series set produced by Pinnacle Brands in December 1992. Seeking a niche in the premium, mid-price market, Select was marketed at a level below the Pinnacle Flagship but above the base brand Score. 1993 Select was buttressed by an extravagant marketing campaign that included a series of TV commercials that aired during ESPN's coverage of the 1992 MLB Expansion Draft. 1993 Select was notable as it was the first set that Pinnacle utilized its trademark Dufex printing technology on all the insert cards.
Subsets included Rookies, Prospects, and First Round Draft Picks, all sprinkled throughout the latter part of the set.
Rookie Cards in this set included Derek Jeter, Jason Kendall, and Shannon Stewart.
