The 367-card first series was released in November, 2004, while the 366 card second series was issued in April of 2005. For the ninth consecutive year, in honor of Mickey Mantle, card #7 was not issued.
Subsets for Managers (267-296); First year cards (297-326); Prospects (327-331); Season Highlights (332-336); League Leaders (337-348); Post-Season (349-355); AL All-Stars (356-367) were included. In addition, card number 368, which was not on the original checklist, was later included to honor the Boston Red Sox World Championship.
For the second straight year, Topps is the exclusive home of Barry Bonds cards. Series One features the last of the Montreal Expos cards.
Rookie cards include: Justin Verlander, Ian Kinsler, Billy Butler, Andre Ethier and Melky Cabrera.
